Hans Conrad Gyger (1599-1674) was a painter, mathematician, surveyor and cartographer in Zurich. He is the author of a map with a hand painted shaded relief of the area around the city of Zurich (1664). His pioneering masterpiece is the oldest known example of a shaded relief of Switzerland. Gyger also finished other more traditional maps of Switzerland.
