FRITZ HÖLZEL

Fritz Hölzel

German Fritz Hölzel (1899-1977) worked from 1923-1940 for the Karl Baedeker Company and after 1945 for other companies including C. Bertelsmann, Falk and the German Rail. Hölzel was well known for his many relief shadings which were printed in atlases and maps. An interesting example of his work, "Die Welt ist bunt" combines oblique hill shading with a hand colored groundcover.
