Coloured Relief Shading

Hypsometric (small)Hypsometric colours vary with the terrain’s elevation and thereby emphasize the third dimension.
Thematic (small)Areal thematic information can be combined with shaded reliefs.
Natural (small)Colours according to nature try to illustrate the climate and natural vegetation.
yellow tone (small)A yellow tone can simulate an illuminated relief and thereby enhance the three-dimensional appearance of a shading.
From grey-scale relief (small)Deriving beautifully coloured shaded relief is possible from single grey-scale shading.
Artistic (small)Based on a cartographer’s artistic preference, colours can vividly depict the third dimension of terrain.
